From 2 to 4 March, the preparatory team from the seminar “Islam in Europe” met to discuss the objectives and agenda of the seminar. EFIL will run a Study session at the European Youth Centre in Budapest on ”Active citizenship in the refugee crisis – local projects for the global exchange network’ from 21 to 28 August. The objective is to to give a relevant contribution to supporting refugees in Europe, using the expertise and network of a long-term exchange organisation such as AFS. In 2016 EFIL will focus on the topic of ‘Building peaceful societies through intercultural education‘. In 2016 EFIL’s leading theme for several activities is Building Peaceful Societies. The theme is understood broadly: from re-thinking AFS’ peacebuilding roots and mission, through promoting active involvement in diverse local communities, to working on specific issues linked to conflict resolution and reconciliation in exchanges.
