The pilot PEACE programme was launched in January 2018 with the arrival of nine students from Indonesia, India and Thailand who are hosted in Germany, Hungary, Italy and Poland. MIRAI Program 2017/2018 Following the two groups of altogether 150 university graduate and post-graduate students who visited Japan respectively in September and December 2017, a third group, this time of 20 young professionals took part in the third leg of the MIRAI Program 2017/2018 in March 2018. Although e-learning initiatives are not new to EFIL, the efforts to increase online learning offers have been gradually gaining momentum. “Developing Intercultural Competence through E-learning (DICE)” project is probably the most ambitious initiative thus far in this regard. Although AFS/EFIL might not focus primarily on the vocational schools, getting closer to the VET sector to identify opportunities and synergies is one of the needs expressed by several AFS organisations. The Erasmus+ project Intercultural learning for pupils and teachers is led by EFIL together with a consortium composed by AFS organisations, the French German Youth Office, the European School Heads Association and two schools. In the last years, AFS has focused on becoming an educational organisation and increasing our profile as such externally, especially with schools.
